8kW Grin Marine Motor, 21 rpm/V
Grin Direct Drive Marine Motor, 45mm Stator and 21 rpm/V Winding. Delivers up to 8000 Watts when run at full RPM with 72V Battery.
Grin's 8KW marine motor uses the same side cover assembly as our famous All Axle ebike hub, but features an extra wide 45mm stator for at highter torque and power levels. It includes a special axle for direct coupling to a 1" propeller shaft. This motor is intended primarily for replacing ~10-15 hp diesel engines on 30-36 foot sailboats that have a straight shaft through a stern tube.
This winding is well suited to drive propeller shafts up to 1000 rpm with a 48V battery bank, or 1500 rpm shafts with a 72V pack. We recommend a brushless motor controller capable of at least 150 continuous phase amps, such as the ASI BAC4000.
This motor is in early beta release phase to specially selected people who have signed up for our Marine project newsletter.
See the Grin Marine Kit Info Page for more details.
