The Supercycle is a two-person, four-wheeled pedal-electric vehicle. It’s designed as a practical alternative to the car for the average 13 km commute in France, but it’s also a fantastic vehicle for longer trips and adventures.
The first models are based on the Velove Armadillo frame, designed by Flevobike, and retrofitted with Grin motors in either two- or four-wheel-drive configurations. A pedal generator replaces the traditional chain drivetrain, making for a comfortable, light, powerful, and low-maintenance ride. The suspension is amazing, regenerative braking takes much of the work off the mechanical brakes, and there’s no chain to look after.
In 2026, we added a solar roof for the Sun Trip in Morocco. It powered the Supercycle through a 3,800 km journey using sunshine alone!







Morocco Sun Trip 2026
In May 2026, we were lucky to participate in the Morocco Sun Trip with other Grin enthusiasts. A unique adventure from the Sahara to France, that proved the bike is reliable in harsh conditions. Of course, only powered by the Sun !






Solar Trip In France 2026
In summer 2026, we went from the French Basque Country to Haute-Loire to Paris, comfortably traveling up to 295 km in a day. More than twice what the battery alone can deliver (6,3 kW/h). The solar energy allows us to really consider this vehicle as more than a short distance tool : a real means of transportation. It was also the first time that I used 4 All Axle motors (with Baserunners), and I was amazed to see that the motors stayed below 50°c at all times, even climbing real mountains. And the handling is so nice !



Residency 2024
In 2024, the Supercycle became a travelling artistic residency—a laboratory for exploring new ways of imagining mobility. Fifteen artists took turns travelling across France in two unusual light electric vehicles, reflecting on speed, landscape, freedom, comfort, and the encounters created along the way. Their photographs, films, drawings, texts, music, and other works were later brought together in an exhibition at the ADEME Intermediate Vehicle Show in Laval.


Cycle Analyst App
In 2025, I started developing an app to complement the Cycle Analyst, Grin’s e-bike dashboard and control system.
The app connects to the Cycle Analyst and turns its stream of data into a clear, user-friendly dashboard.
While riding, it displays information such as speed, motor power, battery voltage and current, remaining charge, energy consumption, regenerative braking, and motor temperature, as well as a map for navigation and precious terrain info.
The app also combines this information with GPS data and records the complete journey.
After a ride, it is possible to view the route on a map, explore graphs, and see where energy was consumed or recovered through regenerative braking. It calculates useful trip statistics such as distance, average speed, watt-hours per kilometre, estimated range, and human and solar energy production - when the solar roof is connected.
Recorded trips can be compared or exported for more detailed analysis, in a custom made plateform.
This has become a valuable tool for testing different configurations, understanding the Supercycle’s real-world efficiency, and spotting potential issues during long journeys. It was particularly useful during the 3,800 km Sun Trip, helping us keep an eye on energy use, solar production, battery condition, and overall vehicle performance day after day.
