Dashboard App Privacy Policy

Dashboard App - Mobile Application Privacy Policy

Grin is not interested in collecting any personal information via mobile apps. The purpose of the Dashboard app is purely to enable you to get a better riding experience. The app does not store or transmit any personal details, nor does it include any advertising or analytics software that talks to Grin's servers or any 3rd parties.

What information do we collect?

The app collects ride data from any Grin hardware you connect to (a Cycle Analyst, Phaserunner, or Baserunner controller), such as your speed and energy usage. The data is collected within the app purely for you to view on your device. The app also has the ability to collect and store your location.

Once you have given the app consent to access your location, your location information may be used in two ways. First, if you choose to record a trip on your device, then your ride location is logged on your device as part of your Trip Data. Trip Data collected and generated by the app has no means to leave your device via the app. You control your own Trip Data - if you choose to export it, you can do whatever you like with it, such as using spreadsheets or visualization tools to better understand your vehicle performance. Second, the app uses your approximate location to load background tiles from OpenStreetMap, so you can see a map of the area you are in as you ride around. To load the correct underlying map tile image, your approximate location is periodically sent to the OpenStreetMap servers. See their privacy policy for more information, specifically with respect to their Tile API (which is the only 3rd party service the Dashboard app uses).
