This 20 year old, 50 lbs cargo bike has new life from a minimalist install of a Grin All-axle, hooked up to a Phaserunner that has Dyol throttle directly attached, with no head unit.
This system is destined to end up as auxiliary assist on a Tern GSD, which will likely be a more interesting project. While I wait for extra parts to make that come together, I’m enjoying this ultra minimalist set up.
I found that I needed to relax the throttle ramping time up to a second and widen the dead zone to make the bike feel chill while I get used to the way the Dyol feels. Having regen from the throttle, especially on a bike with rim brakes, is awesome.
