Micky's Bike

The goal when building Micky's Bike was to create a clean, capable, and unique ebike. To achieve this, I used a 2019 Specialized Rockhopper as the base with an RH212, Baserunner L10, and a homemade battery pack in a headless, dual-throttle configuration.

A few details about the build:
The battery pack was built using Lishen 21700 cells in a 10S 6P configuration to produce a 36V 24Ah battery. The custom battery allowed me to design and build my own mounting system using wood for a dark-stained finish. By using wood, I was able to chisel out a void in my vertical support to fit the L10 controller in a recessed and secured location while still providing exposure for heat dissipation. By mounting it at a diagonal I was able to help maintain discrete cable routing where possible.

I chose a dual throttle configuration as I wanted proportional control of both my acceleration and regenerative braking. To maintain a clean look I was able to utilize a free channel in the bike frame to internally route a multiconductor cable to wire both throttles through the frame and back to the controller.

Additionally, I routed cables through the seatpost itself to wire in a hidden on/off switch under the seat for convenience and increased security.

I ride this bike daily for my commute from Fairview to the Northshore and back and love every second of the ride! It's also a ton of fun on the trails.
