Mixte stealth commuter

Fairfield, CA

Built for a long, hilly commute. The route includes bike lanes, city streets, back roads and MUP bike paths. For most of the way I need speed, but some of the MUP are limited to Class 1, 20 mph. I go slow on the MUP, but it's best to keep from looking like an aggressive e-bike. SX1 front hub, baserunner and CA3, simple PAS, 62 cm Soma Buena Vista frame, 8 speed Alfine IGH rear, Growtac cable discs. A custom frame bag from Waxwing holds pump and tools, a home made wrap covers the battery.
My previous bike was a BBSHD mid-drive. I expected the front hub to be less capable, but except for steep hills it is fine. I go just as fast, but use only 10 - 12 Wh per mile instead of 15 - 18 on the BBSHD. The mixte frame made the cable runs very clean.
