A four-wheel electric mobility scooter that I designed and built for two reasons. First, to allow my dearest loved one to go places that are otherwise off limits. She has a commercial mobility scooter that is great for indoors and sidewalks, but always gets stuck on obstacles or in gravel, sand, or mud. Secondly, to give me a fun retirement project.

All of the welding for this project was done by Paragon Precision Metals in McPherson, Kansas https://www.paragonprecisionmetal.com/. — Welding by Paragon Precision Metals

Front shocks are DNM coil spring with 37mm travel.
Design allows adjustment of camber, caster, and toe-in.
The front spindles are set up with torque arm brackets to allow adding front motors.
The seat is from Pride Mobility, with a custom mount to allow sliding adjustment fore and aft. — Twin A-Arm Front Suspension

The right side has the Grin Cycle Analyst, Digital Aux Input, Twist Throttle, and Forward / Reverse switch.
The Digital Aux is used to select 5 speeds currently, by limiting the throttle voltage.
I used the Velcro sleeve provided by Grin to enclose the wiring. — Right Handlebar

This shows the 3,000 pound Champion brand winch after installation. We use the winch to pull the unit up a ramp into a minivan for transport. — Installed Winch

Single 48V 19Ah battery currently, with mounting provision for 2 more to extend range.
Two V6 Phaserunner_L10 Controllers currently, with mounting provisions for two more to support 4WD. — Battery and Controller Mounts

Installing a 3,000 pound Champion winch, which is visible in the video. — Winch Mount

Removable pins allow adjustment of the angle and extension of the foot rest. — Adjustable Foot Rest

Rear shocks are DNM coil spring with 50mm travel.
Rear motors are Grin single-side all-axle builds, with 20in rims laced by Grin. — Trailing Arm Rear Suspension

The left side has a mirror and brake lever.
The brake lever engages the front hydraulic disk brakes, and the rear e-brakes, and has a park brake feature. — Left Handlebar

Most of my time working on this project was spent doing the design in Fusion 360.
I used the assembly module to create joints between components and to create animations of the mechanisms. I used the analysis module to check structural integrity. The structure is over-designed for the loads on it, not optimized to minimize weight. — Fusion 360 CAD model

I powder coated all of the attached components myself at the local maker space called MakeICT.
The frame was powder coated by Lorac Metals in Wichita, who have an oven large enough to cure the frame. — Powder Coated Frame and Attached Components
