Grin Rear Max45 All-Axle hub motor SuperH Conversion kit with your choice of UART display, battery pack, and PAS/Torque sensor options. The basic display kits have a modern-looking screen but are not as customizable as our Cycle Analyst systems. Please see our Kit Types page for more details.
Motor is compatible with both 170mm and 190mm quick release slotted dropouts, and 177mm and 197mm thru axle dropouts, by selection of the right inserts and weighs 6kg.

The Rear Max45 All-Axle motor is available in 2 different winding speeds; a slow 7.2 rpm/V option and a standard 9 rpm/V model. In general we recommend the slow 7.2 rpm/V winding for 72V systems in order to get the most torque output at the 90A controller phase current limit.
There are three cassette driver options for each winding. The PAS-only Shimano cassette is the lowest cost option for those who don't need a built-in torque sensor. For those wanting a torque sensor, both a Shimano HG and a higher end SRAM-XDR driver option are available. The SRAM-XD is used in 1x12 drivetrains with small 9 or 10 tooth cogs for better pedaling at high speeds.
The axle adapters sets are available for conventional slotted dropouts and for 12mm thru-axle dropouts, for both ~170mm (4" tire) and ~190mm (5" tire) frame standards.

You can get a bare hub and lace it into a suitable 32 hole rim yourself, or choose to get a professional wheel build done here at Grin using our stock rim selections and quality Sapim butted spokes. Our head wheel builder Robert has decades of experience and is renowned for building wheels that are nearly bombproof.
If you want Grin to do the wheelbuild, be sure to select either the Silver or Black spoke option from the dropdown menu, along with your preferred rim. By default all wheels will be be dished with the rim dead center between the dropouts, if you require some special dishing offset for an oddball frame please mention that in the order comments.
If you are doing your own wheel build into your own rim, be sure to specify the required spoke length in the order comments to match your selected rim ERD and lacing pattern. If you require a wider rim than the ones we carry, you're welcome to source your own 32 hole fatbike rim and send it to us for your wheel build. Please get in touch with us to get an RMA # for the rim shipment.

At the moment the only 72V compatible controller that Grin offers is our Phaserunner. This mounts easily to the bicycle frame tubing and supports peak phase current of up to 90A, with continuous current of 45-50A.

Several display options are available to show basic information like bicycle speed, motor power, trip distance etc. through communication with the motor controller. The displays also provide the on/off power switch for the system and have up/down buttons to cycle through between 3 to 9 levels of pedal-assistance.

Throttles, ebrake levers, pas sensors, and torque sensors all play a roll in how you interact with the ebike. The Torque or PAS sensor plugs in directly to the motor controller and provide assistance based on the assist level of the display, while throttle and ebrakes hook up to the Main9 Superharness.

Regenerative braking can be controlled either with a digital brake sensor and modulated with the throttle, with an analog brake sensor that produces a varying signal directly, or without a brake sensor using one of the bidirectional throttles instead.
