The SX motors are available in 2 different winding speeds (fast and standard) depending on how fast you need to go for a given wheel diameter and battery voltage. In most scenarios, we recommend the fast wind for 20" wheels and the standard winding speed for 26" and larger.

Because of the high torque capability of these geared motors combined with the smaller diameter M12 axle, the use of a torque arm to prevent axle spinout is essential.

Rear Casette Hub Motor with Helical Gears, Fast (~9.8 rpm/V) Winding. Includes 9 Pin Z910 Cable with Combined Speed + Thermistor Signal.

Throttles, ebrake levers, pas sensors, and torque sensors all play a roll in how you interact with the ebike. Torque and PAS sensor automatically power the bike whenever you pedal with an assist level controlled by the CA3's MFSwitch, while a throttle gives manual control. Please see our PAS info page for more details on these options

Even if you choose a PAS or Torque sensor as the primary control, we always recommend having a throttle as well. It can be handy to accelerate in tight situations and is great as a back-up if ever the pedal sensor has issues.

The ebrake levers can be included for a motor safety cutoff whenever you squeeze the brakes.

The kit will run with any battery pack from 24V to 52V nominal (and up to 72V with a Phaserunner).
We offer a range of batteries that will work well depending on the geometry of your bike, the range you need on a charge, and how fast you want to go.  Please see our battery info page for more details on the different pack options.
Be sure to select a charger model that matches the voltage (36V, 48V, or 52V) and connector style (ST3 or XLR) of the chosen pack.

There are a number of optional electronic and mechanical accessories that can help flush out the build. This includes front and rear bike lights, phone chargers, wire management, programming cables, and what have you.

This is a more basic version of our SX2 CA3 kit assuming only basic throttle control is desired with no need for any kind of handlebar displays. It is based around our mid-sized silent geared hub motors, including the baserunner motor controller tucked neatly in a downtube battery. This setup includes everything configured out of the box for the ideal for a minimal, lightweight commuter ebike.

For a full explanation of the various drop-down choices and a comparison of this package versus other motor options, see our Grin Kits Info Page

For details on this hub in particular, see the SX Geared Motor Info Page
