We're seeing a steady stream of amazing builds showing up in our ebike project gallery with the ongoing prize campaign.  Congratulations to Arian of Quebec for getting our  2nd $300 award for his Boogie Nights belt drive  Bullitt build with video accompaniment (and a great writeup). It shows the lovely peace of riding around with an ebike built for a man and his best friend. 

We've got 5 more $300  staff pick prizes that we're handing each and every week,  wrapping things up with a $1000 grand prize for the best video after Nov 9th.  So keep those projects coming, or update your previously submitted project with new pictures and a video to get it in contention!   

The Loadrunner electric wheelbarrow systems have been so popular that we've had a hard time keeping inventory in stock.  But wait no more, a big production run is under way, there is now an active supply of kits ready to ship again.  

Complete Wheelbarrows

We've partnered up with the respected wheelbarrow manufacturer ERIE from Ontario to now offer fully built eletric wheelbarrows based on their Heavey Duty PRO line. These units have tough steel buckets, all-metal handles, and a rugged set of legs that holds stable even with the heaviest loads.  They'd been one of our go-to platforms for the development and testing, and we're pleased to now offer this model as a ready-made option. 

The complete wheelbarrows are assembled and available to pickup from our shop in Vancouver. Come and get yours today! If we're just too far away, then you can purchase a regular wheelbarrow locally from your favorite hardware store and install the kit, it's really quite simple.   

Rentals Too

If you want to just use an electric wheelbarrow for a one-off job, or want to try before you buy, we've also got a weekend rental program running now. For $60 you can pick up a unit on Friday, move a ton of material without breaking your sweat over the weekend, and then drop it off back to Grin on Monday.

We've also put some more polish on our separate dedicated wheelbarrow website, grinloadrunner.ca, which you can share with anyone who you think could fancy owning an electric wheelbarrow.

There's been amazing feedback from customers in all walks of life who have found the loadrunner to be the game changing device that they didn't know they needed. Not just in landscaping and construction trades, but also in support off-grid living, hobby farms, facility and maintenance crews etc.  It all reminds us a little of people discovering electric bicycles for the first time. Here's a shout out to everyone who we met in Ohio last weekend and who helped make our participation possible!

From Marshall and the event organizers, to the customers who in some cases rode hundreds of kilometers to bring their demo bikes to our booth. From the dealers and businesses who were happy to exchange info, to the many potential customers who peperred us with great questions.  It's encouraging to see how relevant our products are to people all over. 

We came away with many ideas on how to serve the trike and recumbent community even better, and a fresh perspective on the unique needs of this scene.   Here's to an even bigger cycle-con event in 2027. 

Calling all recumbent bike and trike riders! For the first time ever, Grin will be participating in the Cycle-Con show coming up soon, September 18–20, 2026, in Xenia, Ohio.

This is the largest gatherings of recumbent bikes, trikes, and specialty bike brands in North American and we're happy to be present at last.  Our All-Axle motor kit with bidirectional throttle control for regen and reverse mode has been extremely popular in this space and we'll be keen to demo the power, simplicity, and utility of direct drive hubs.

We announced that we'd be doing it in July but stuff happens, so that date has been kicked back to Aug 21st. We're going to celebrate our customers that Friday by handing out the following awards:

4x $100 in store credits that we will draw from a hat.  Everyone who has uploaded a project this year with 5 or more images and / or at least 2 paragraphs of text will be eligible and in the pool. 

3x Staff Picks:  We will also have our staff vote to choose their three favorite builds of 2026.  We can be swayed by moving backstories, unusual and creative designs, impressive craftsmanship, you name it. Winners will have the option of either a $200 customer credit that they can use right away, or a 20% off coupon they can use for a future order.

After the short teaser in June, we're glad to announce that the Loadrunner electric wheelbarrow kit is now in full production and receiving glowing feedback from our early customers.   Mounting the kit is a snap, the powertool battery option is widely appreciated, and the installation tidyness is next level compared to what we had before.

The kits are now shipping now, either with a self contained 36V LiGo battery assembly, or to run of two of your own 18V powertool packs. 

We first discussed this wheelbarrow motor in a youtube teardown video back in 2020 but at the time we didn't do a head to head comparison with other wheelbarrow hub motors.  Well we've finally done that too with a steep ramp test and you can see how mch it validates this choice of hub.

It was a treat to meet up with so many people at the Eurobike trade show, both to share Grin's unique product offerings and to further preview the development of Magic Drive and Freegen motor systems. 

A notable aspect of this Eurobike show was how central alternative drivetrains were being featured across the floor. CIXI's PERS pedal generator drive holding center stage outdoors, while several large brands (DJI/Avinox,  GOBAO) inside were revealing bottom bracket power split eCVTs. Grin is excited to play a role in making this tech accessible to DIYers in the years ahead.

What an amazing event last weekend.  Thanks to everyone who came by either to say hi, to check out the demonstrations, to show off their own ebike, or just to hang out. We had visitors not just from Vancouver and Vancouver Island, but even as far as Oregon.  Aside from a few tumbles in our first-ever electric wheelbarrow race track, it couldn't have gone better.

Grin had an amazing time at the SPEZI bike show in Germany last month, and you'll see some longer form content on our channel related to that.  But this post is about the other reason we travelled to Europe:

A couple years ago one of our long serving dealers from France spent several weeks with us in Vancouver to learn all the finer points of Grin's operation, repair, and support process.

His goal was to test the waters for opening up a formal Grin distribution center in France which would make it faster and easier for our Atlantic friends to access Grin goods with local support. We're pleased to say that after much effort this endeavor is now in full swing.

 

The team at Grintech.eu have not only outfit a shop space and fully stocked it with Grin kit, they've also helped us through CE regulatory certifications, and did all the legal and admistriative work to create an oversease enterprise. We had a soft launch in 2025 and now in 2026 things are really moving with almost all of our motor models and kit types are in stock for quick delivery. 

If you are looking for an All-Axle motor conversion kit within the the European union, check them out.
They can navigate through the kit selection process, perform installations on site, and even support business and dealer accounts for wholesale customers.

Hey everyone, Grin will once again be at the SPEZI bike show in Germany, which is coming up next weekend on April 25th and 26th!

It's a late notice but for those in Europe who can make it out you won't find a more dense collection of both eclectic and cutting edge bikes, trikes, and quads under one roof.   We'll be there in two capacities
1) To showcase the All-Axle motor drive platforms and LiGo 10X air travel batteries, and 
2) To help Chargebike showcase the next phase of the Freegen motor project, called MagicDrive!

We've had a jam-packed few weeks machining and assembling various motors and test platforms here in Vancouver that we can take to the show. 

Thanks to Grintech europe, Envo, Geobike, and Chargebike for all helping us pull this together at the last minute. We can't wait to be there and meet with the many mobility innovators on the other side of the Atlantic.
