Main9 Dual Controller Cable
Main 9 Splitter Cable. Supports Dual Motor / Dual Controller Ebikes with Single Throttle and Display
This cable connects a single Superharness or Main9 harness to two motor controllers, allowing you to make a 2WD ebike with a single display and throttle control. There is a primary and secondary controller, identified by a coloured band of red shrink tubing, with power coming from the primary controller hookup. It is similar to our dual WP8 cable to run dual motors with a Cycle Analyst display, but with two limitation not present with the Cycle Analyst splitter.
- PAS control: The torque or PAS sensor needs to be plugged into the primary controller, and only the primary motor will be powered when operating under pedal control.
- Display Power: The display only communicates with the primary controller as well. This means that the watts shown on the display represents just the power draw of the primary motor, not the combined output of both motors.
When using throttle and regen braking, both motor controllers see the same control signal from the superharness and operate accordingly.
This arrangement also works well for 2WD setups that do have PAS controlled where the 2nd motor is primarily as a boost hub. The pedal assist sensing operates just 1 motor, and you use the throttle when you need the power of both drives. It is not ideal for 2WD PAS setups where you want pedal assist mode to drive both motors equally (e.g. dual front motors for recumbent trikes).
In principle this could be used as a 3WD splitter by putting in a 2nd Main9 splitter to the secondary controller port.
