I wanted an ebike that would allow me to get rid of my dual sport motorcycle. Bike features a GMAC hub motor, Fox 36 forks, disc brakes, grin twist throttle,
and a custom 48V 37AH battery.

Battery Woes

When I decided I wanted to get an ebike I wanted all the range I could possibly get and that meant a big battery. I was going to update my frame (my daily ride since bought) but I realized that the big frame triangle would allow me to place a large triangle pack in there. The battery came with a battery bag but it became clear I would have to do something after the straps got torn off and the bottom cells were pounding on the down tube from the hard riding.
I built a styrofoam core for the new box and started laying up epoxy glass over it. Then I laid up some tube sections for the mounts. I laid glass around the access cover edges to get a nice flush look. Finished up by mounting all the.electrics to the back side of the access cover and lining the concave frame mounts with rubber inner tube.
On the inside there is closed cell foam between the battery and the box to prevent battery damage. Battery peace of mind!
