After a number of years of coveting, researching and regularly visiting ebikes.ca I finally decided to take the plunge in March 2018 and purchase an eZee Front wheel kit for an old 1991 mountain bike that I had as a second bike. The near 40km commute (usually against the wind) would leave me quite gassed some evenings and more so towards the end of the week.
I'll never forget the grin on my face that first ride to work in April 2018 once the route to work was clear of snow. I was still able to get a workout, but was able to shave 20+ minutes round trip off my commute with the electric assist.
The purchase of studded tires made it my AWD vehicle for my winter commute.
Throttle only for now, but love the CA3 cruise control feature.
Baserunner upgrade
On a very rainy night in February 2020 while coming home from work I lost power. This had happened before and following a dry out in the garage over night it was fine, but no such luck this time. Eventually through many emails and much testing I decided to replace the fried eZee controller with an L10 Baserunner. This also involved replacing the JST connectors from the motor with an L10 connector. A nice upgrade for increased power to the motor and better waterproofness.
