My Chopper Pedelec is a big bike, that weighs round about 30kg, depending on the battery size and it offers a lot of space for really big battery packs. So ranges of more than 300km with a single charge are possible.
Because of its comfortable seat position riding the whole day could be a pleasure.
The legs in front, the body leans nearly upright on a backrest. It is not a recumbent, but neck and hands are relaxed, while riding.

Development

The early Chopper Pedelecs were equipped with small geared front hub motors.
The current version is propelled by an All Axle Front Hub Motor and a 14Gear Roloff Rear Hub. So, it's a all wheel driven bike.

The picture shows a long distance Chopper. 400km with a single charge were no problem, but the battery weight of 50kg and heavy winds overstrained the motor and the guiness record attempt failed - what a pitty. — Long distance version

Recuperation is a nice thing, but with a slow wound motor and a small 36Volt-battery it reduces possible the downhill speed.
I changed to 48Volt battery and Justin helped me on the Spezi 2024 to reduce the recuperation. In the meantime I reached 61km/h on a short downhill passage by only recuperating 200W. So I think, with a faster wound motor it will be possible to reach the 80kph as I did with the geared motors before. It would be fine to have the choice between, going fast downhill and pedalling backwards to get a high recuperation if energy or braking are required. — Spezi 2024: Help from Grin by reducing the recuperation
