Electrom LEV

The Electrom project has been evolving since 2012. The bike is designed as a ground-up rethink of how human and electric power integrated into a safe and roadworthy vehicle that meets the legal definition of an e-bike here in Canada.

We have been using Grintech components since the early days because they are the best, and Grin's dedication to user-repairability and experimentation blends perfectly with projects like the Electrom

The key features of the Electrom are:
- Partial enclosure for weather protection and aerodynamics
- GCD- Generator Chain Drive, which allows the rider to pedal as hard or as gently as they wish while contributing power to the system
- Dual hub motors. A Direct Drive Nine Continents 212 in the rear, and a freewheeling SX1 geared motor in the front. The geared hub motor helps get the bike up to speed and to climb hills, but shuts down at higher speeds to save power. At higher speeds, the Nine Continents 212 hub motor is more efficient and it supports regenerative braking, which puts power back into the battery and is a great way to slow down a heavy vehicle.
-A built-in range of 200km at 32 km/h, extendable to 400km with extra batteries in the tailbox
-100 liters of cargo storage, turn signals, and horn lights, and the ability to carry a small passenger (on some models).
-The system uses the Grin Solar shunt to measure the power generated by the rider via the separate on-board pedal generator and display the output values on the Cycle Analyst V3

Constrution

The Electrom frame is laser-cut and bent aluminum. The upper cowling and side panels are Polycarbonate and ABS Plastic, and the Tailbox, seat, and footwell are molded carbon fiber.
