The Electrom project has been evolving since 2012. The bike is designed as a ground-up rethink of how human and electric power integrates into a safe and road-worthy vehicle that meets the legal definition of an e-bike here in Canada. The key features of the Electrom are:
- Partial enclosure for weather protection and aerodynamics
- GCD- Generator Chain Drive, which allows the rider to pedal as hard or as gently as they wish while contributing power to the system
- Dual hub motors, Direct Drive, and freewheeling geared motor. The geared hub motor helps get the bike up to speed and to climb hills, but shuts down at higher speeds to save power.
-100 liters of cargo storage, lights turn signals and horn, and the ability to carry a small passenger.
-the system uses the Grin Solar shunt to measure the power generated by the rider via the separate on-board pedal generator and display the output values on the Cycle Analyst V3

Constrution

The Electrom frame is laser-cut and bent aluminum. The upper cowling and side panels are Polycarbonate and ABS Plastic, and the Tailbox, seat, and footwell are molded carbon fiber.
