I started with a Rans V-Squared Long Wheel-Base (LWB) recumbent bicycle about 10 years ago. I added a classic Crystalyte 404 direct-drive front hub motor in a 20 inch wheel. I strapped a 35-Amp Grinfineon controller to the twin support frame tubes under the seat. The long wires that came with the controller and motor fit perfectly.Even the full twist throttle wires ran all the way from the chopper bars to the controller.

The CycleAnalyst fits down low on the chopper bars to keep a clear sight path out front. A small reed switch glued under the brake handle provides cut-off and flips me into regen mode for some extra braking.

The 52V 20Ah LiFePO4 battery is tucked securely in a plastic, waterproof, lockable ammo box from MTM. The ammo box comes with an ATV mounting kit that is strapped securely to my back Rans recumbent specific pannier rack. A couple of years ago, I upgraded to the large-display CycleAnalyst and I have cruise control and variable regen braking now, I have to keep my MAX amps limited to 25 amps to keep it safe and extend battery life.
