Hill Climbing Caddy

Fort Washington, MD

I'm a big guy(320 lbs) and I have a lot of steep hills where I live. I wanted something comfortable and capable and that I could also get exercise with. I originally bought a Ariel Ride grizzly. Capable but not comfortable. I then decided to build my own(first build).

I settled on a Day 6 Samson frame. It's a semi-recumbent. Very comfortable seat and backrest. I added 2 frankenrunner controllers, Cycle analyst, 9H front motor(used a rear for 135mm dropout) and bafang(G62) rear. Front direct drive for regen braking. Pushing 2000w in front. 1500w in rear. I have 2 72V 15ah batteries.

This comfortably gets me up any hill. Because it's a semi recumbent, I can put my feet on the ground while sitting and still have good leg extension. I added a rear rack which can be in 2 modes. The cases are removable. I have a small case with tools ectera. I also have a big case that holds at 72v 50ah battery for a total of 80ah if I ever needed the range but I haven't exhaused the 2 15ah yet.

This bike is a dream. I have my CA programmed for 30 levels of assist so I can attain any speed I want. Not that I need it but this bike gets me to 42mph. Grin made all this possible.
