Wooden recumbent bike

Utah

202

The bike frame was originally made on my CNC router in 2012. It is a hollow frame (3/8 inch, or 9mm) that is made up of laminated walnut, hard maple, and purple hearth woods. The wood frame actually soaks up road vibration pretty good. The bike is built for speed and efficiency.

The recently added Bafang G310 rear motor is connected to a cycle analyst 3 controller that limits the power to 125 watts. This gives around 1 amp hour of battery usage per 9 miles or 14.5 km. And with a 10 plus year old 12 amp hour lithium battery... there is over 100 miles (160 km) of range on this bike. The Zzipper fairing helps with aerodynamic efficiently, as well as the rear wheel disc.
