Customize Brompton Direct-Drive Motor SuperH Kit

The small SAW20 brompton motors come in a fairly fast 12 rpm/V winding speed and are prelaced in a 16" ETRTO349 rim.
The M10x1mm axle has 8mm flats on it and comes with a custom made tabbed washer to engage with holes in the brompton fork and provide axle spinout resistance.

The Baserunner Z9 Stand Alone controller supports up to 55A peak phase currents and should be screwed to the aluminum mounting bracket for heat sinking. The battery lead is terminated with anderson powerpole connectors.

Several display options are available to show basic information like bicycle speed, motor power, trip distance etc. through communication with the motor controller. The displays also provide the on/off power switch for the system and have up/down buttons to cycle through between 3 to 9 levels of pedal-assistance.

Throttles, ebrake levers, pas sensors, and torque sensors all play a roll in how you interact with the ebike. The Torque or PAS sensor plugs in directly to the motor controller and provide assistance based on the assist level of the display, while throttle and ebrakes hook up to the Main9 Superharness.  If you are confused about the PAS and Torque sensor options, please see our pedal sensor info page.  Regenerative braking can be controlled either with a digital brake sensor and modulated with the throttle, with an analog brake sensor that produces a varying signal directly, or without a brake sensor using one of the bidirectional throttles instead (the DYOL throttle is the preferred choice for regenerative braking in the Brompton kit).

The kit will run with any battery pack from 24V to 52V nominal (and up to 72V with a Phaserunner).
We offer a range of batteries that will work well depending on the geometry of your bike, the range you need on a charge, and how fast you want to go.  Please see our battery info page for more details on the different pack options.   

Be sure to select a charger model that matches the voltage (36V, 48V, or 52V) and connector style (ST3 or XLR) of the chosen pack.  

If you are looking to get the kit with a pilot batch of our Air Travel friendly LiGo 10X batteries instead, don't select any battery here. Instead use the LiGo 10X battery store page to separately add the pack to your cart.

Front wheel conversion kit for Brompton folding bicycles based around a 250-500 watt Direct-Drive Crystalyte motor laced in a 16" ETRTO 349 rim. Motor axle is 75mm long with a 3/8" axle ground to 8mm on the flats, and fits in the Brompton fork with no modifications. A pair of torque arms mate with the dropout's anti-rotation hole to prevent spinout.

The compact Baserunner mounts on a custom bracket behind the fork and does not interfere with the folding. The Brompton SuperH kit with your choice of UART display, battery pack, and PAS/Torque sensor options. The basic display kits have a modern looking screen but are not as customizable as our Cycle Analyst systems. Please see our Kit Styles page for more details.
